Man loves woman, but the man believes he is not worthy of her. A very true sentiment in the past, and still rings true today. Or it just might be the very frightful thought of having a character like Mr. Figglesby as a potential in-law which frightens the lights out of Mr. Tom O’Brian. If I were Tom, I wouldn’t mind marrying Mistress Figglesby, but minus the father-in-law of course. Fortunately not all in-laws are bad eggs, but there are exceptions.
True, Mr. Figglesby can be intimidating.
