Oh dear, they’re conspiring.
This weekend, I went to the National Gallery to look at the Pre-Raphaelite exhibit. The Pre-raphaelites are some of my more favorite artists, and it was a real treat to be able to view their paintings in person. My favorite of the Pre-Raphaelites has always been John Edward Millias for his subtle brushstrokes and colors, but seeing William Holman Hunt’s work in museum light was a real treat. Photographs do not do his paintings justice at all they just flatten his colorwork and don’t portray just how they shimmer off the canvas. It was all super magical and inspiring. If you ever get a chance to see some of these paintings or works of art, which I believe reside mostly in the Tate Britain, go do it.
