Aaand, that’s it for this chapter! Looks like there will be some interesting stuff happening next chapter.
I’d write more, but I have a cold and still have about 2,000 words to finish for my NaNoWriMo novel, so this will be it today. Remember, I will be on vacation for the rest of the month, but there will still be regular vote incentives and updates. 
I like the way you have handled the story of Capt. La Salle so far and I am looking forward to his and his crew’s further adventures, especially if he (La Salle) and Yvette are destined to become an “item”.

A) Someday, I’d like to see someone do the “draw the sword and off comes the opponents head” bit with a touch of realism. As in, they draw their sword and swing, and get about a third of the way through. XD Cause I just don’t think a human can do that.
B) Jared’s last line almost sounds like innuendo. Or maybe I’ve just been corrupted by the internet.
C) I love how the other patrons don’t care a whit that someone was just beheaded.

Well, you CAN behead someone with a sword. It would have to be a very heavy, 2-handed sword wielded by a REALLY strong man and you would still need a bit of luck, but it could and have been done. Rarely, but still.
