Lord Billingsly’s Ball; Page 16
Voila! It’s a party! I have to admit, I did love doing Harmony’s hair. Unfortunately, the black and white doesn’t convey it, but imagine her caked with makeup.
The dance and music on this page is all based on a real regency dance: Mr Issac’s Maggot. I am a regular performer with the troupe Thrir Venstri Foetr (Translated “Three Left Feet”), an English Country dance troupe that regularly performs medieval and Renaissance dances. Mr Issac’s Maggot is actually one of the newer dances on our set list and qualifies as regency rather than renaissance, but our troupe enjoys dancing it so we do make a few exceptions. Time is a bit tricker to portray in webcomics, but the steps of the dance is as accurate as I can get in a suspended time zone. You can watch a video of another trope performing here, and you can read the steps here on the Three left Feet website. Our troupe does perform it slightly differently than the ones in the video, but you can get a basic idea of what the dance looks like. And if you happen to live in Maryland or the Northern Virginia area and want to dance with us, we always love new members! Information is on the site.
Also, it’s the Spider Forest comic of the week time. Every week, I’ll feature a new comic from the Spiderforest collective to add to your comic reading pleasures. 🙂
This week it’s The War of Winds by KEZ. The War of Winds is an epic fantasy about the end of the war between the Four Winds. If you love high fantasy, you’ll love this one.
Now to take back Earth from the Reapers!
Wonder what Tom’s face looked like when he heard those (obviously sweet) words from the women he so “admired”. I bet it was also priceless! Harmony isn’t really bad, she actually looks beautiful by the way..minus the cake make up off course. It is off course quite obvious that Harmony likes Jonathan very much…too much really, which is why maybe Jonathan is a bit wary…or maybe its the make up?
